Since we spend so much time in our cars, we wish they would always be sparkly clean and smelling
wonderful. In reality, that’s hardly ever the case for most of us, especially for families with children and
busy schedules.
To make this task less overwhelming, take a look at our step by step list on how to clean the interior of
your car:
Preparation: prepare yourself by gathering all the supplies and equipment needed. We suggest you
bring a vacuum cleaner, trash bag, plenty of rags, window cleaner, leather-, carpet- or upholstery cleaner, a
toothbrush for the hard to reach spaces and household all-purpose cleaner.
Clean out: Take everything out of your car and set aside. Place the trash into the trash bag and lay out the
floor mats so you can vacuum them later. This might also be a good time to take off the kids’ car seat
covers for a nice wash.
Cleaning: Vacuum the entire car. Use different attachments or the toothbrush to get dirt out of small
spaces. Don’t forget to really get into the seat cracks and seat belt bases…. that’s where most of the
crumbs hide. Don’t forget to vacuum the floor mats, which are outside of your car!
Spray some all-purpose cleaner directly onto a rag and wipe down all hard surfaces to get rid of stains
and remaining dust. Use upholstery/ leather cleaner for stains on seats or to condition leather and use
carpet cleaner for carpet stains. Make sure to follow the directions on the bottle!
Clean the windows with ammonia free glass cleaner. Ammonia can harm your window tint! Spray
directly onto a rag and wipe down the interior windows.
Replace all floor mats, car seats, other needed items and you are DONE!
Pick a nice scent to freshen up your new, clean car and ENJOY!
