There are several questions we get asked time and time again during our free in-home estimates. Here is one of them: “How do you clean stainless steel appliances, correctly?”
First of, a good rule of thumb that you should always keep in mind: “Less is more”.
The European Clean Team knows that stainless steel is a popular choice in kitchens and bathrooms! It can in fact be stainless if you take good care of it, but dirt and grime can put it at risk of corrosion and rust.
- You should include stainless steel appliances in your cleaning routine. It needs a little TLC.
- Generally speaking… less is more! We suggests that you start by simply using a microfiber cloth and hot water to clean your stainless steal appliances. This will do the trick most of the time! Be sure to dry your stainless steel with a clean and dry microfiber cloth. Wipe with the polish lines to achieve a nice and shiny finish.
- If you run into some tougher stains, we would suggest that you start adding a little bit of dish soap to your cleaning cloth. Thoroughly wipe down the dirty area and don’t forget to clean off all the soap afterwards, plus dry the area to avoid soap build up or water stains.
- Finally, you can use stainless steel cleaner but we would caution you to only use as little as needed and to read the directions on the bottle carefully before you use it.
- For your in-between cleanings, you can always use Windex to clean fingerprints.
If you are using a cleaning solution, always spray your cleaner onto your cleaning cloth. Do not spray it on your stainless steel. That way you only use as much as you need to and you avoid your cleaning solution running down your appliances.
If you are spot cleaning, clean in a circular motion and polish with a clean, wet cloth. Finish up with a dry microfiber cloth.
Good Luck!
